An eastern view of the lush hillsides of the San Fernando Valley before they wither in the heat of the summer.
Piru Cannyon, just south of the lake in early July. Only a few days into July, it's mostly brown. The Day (or Sespe) fire is currently feasting on hillsides just like this less than 10 miles north.
